Garrick Higgo might have taken a big step to arresting his downward slide on the Official World Golf Ranking list as he finds himself up 16 places on the latest list after a solid week on the PGA Tour.

Higgo, who soared as high as 38^th after he won the Palmetto Championship on the PGA Tour in 2021, had slipped to 308^th last week. But a share of 26^th in last week’s Procore Championship has seen him back inside the world’s top 300 at 292^nd. That also lifts him back inside the top 10 South Africans according to the official listings.

The man just below him this week on the South African list, Brandon Stone, is also on an upward trajectory. He is up 15 places to 304^th after he finished in a share of 26^th in the DP World Tour’s Amgen Irish Open. He had reached a career-high of 67^th after he won the Joburg Open way back in 2017.

Up to a career-high of his own is the ever-improving Robin Williams. He is up six places to 272^nd, and he’ll take a big leap when he wins his maiden professional title outside South Africa. That’s an event that is surely coming – either on the Challenge Tour, or on the DP World Tour.

Deon Germishuys’ solid week on the Challenge Tour last week in the Open de Portugal, where he came third, meant he rose 21 spots to 324^th. He’s heading back towards his career-high of 221^st after he came third in the KLM Open on the DP World Tour last year.

South Africa’s top player remains Christiaan Bezuidenhout, who was up one place to 45^th despite not playing. Thriston Lawrence’s quiet week in the Amgen Irish Open saw him down one place to 62^nd, and Erik van Rooyen’s solid week in the same tournament saw him up three places to 65^th.
