Jayden Schaper came ninth in the DP World Tour’s Open de Espana on the weekend and that gave him a 53-place boost on the latest list released this week by the Official World Golf Ranking.

Schaper jumped to 299th this week, and gets back inside the world’s top 300 for the first time since he came fourth in the Sunshine Tour’s Tour Championship back in April. It was also his fifth top 10 on the DP World Tour this season, and his first since Dember 2023 when the season started.

By getting back inside the world’s top 300, Schaper is moving back towards his career-high of 274th, achieved after his share of second in the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek in December 2020. He also climbs to ninth on the list of top 25 South Africans according to the official rankings.

Louis de Jager also had a nice boost from his share of 18th in the same tournament in Spain. Climbing 27 places to inside the world’s top 400 in 399th place. Jacques Kruyswijk also had a small boost, going up three places to 434th with his share of 43rd in Spain.

Up at the top of the South African list according to the official list, Christiaan Bezuidenhout was unchanged in 45th after the Presidents Cup.

But his lead was cut to just one as Thriston Lawrence benefited from an adjustment upwards to 46th, even though he didn’t play last week. That’s a career-high for Lawrence, and, with his form so good as the DP World Tour heads towards its climax this season, he seems certain to stay in the upper echelons of the rankings.
