Louis Oosthuizen made four birdies on each of the nines on Thursday in his way to a seven-under-par 64 in the second round of the Asian Tour’s PIF Saudi International at Riyadh Golf Club.

He dropped a single shot on the 11th in a display that showed he can make an impression on the top of the leaderboard over the final 36 holes. He climbed into a share of ninth on nine-under-par. That was just two strokes off the lead.

American Peter Uihlein took another step towards securing The International Series Rankings after finishing in a share of the halfway lead at 11-under, shooting a six-under-par 65. He was in front with fellow LIV Golf stars Cam Smith from Australia and Chilean Joaquin Niemann, as well as fellow American Logan McAllister. Smith shot 64, Niemann 66 and McAllister 63, which is a new course record.

Englishman Tyrell Hatton, another LIV Golf player, was a stroke further back also after 63, along with compatriot Steve Lewton (65), Australia’s Travis Smyth (66) and American Jason Kokrak (68).

Jaco Ahlers was just one shot behind Oosthuizen on eight-under after he shot his second four-under-par 67 in a row. On eight-under with him was Ian Snyman, who had a five-under 66 in the second round. Dean Burmester was another shot back after a four-under 67 in a share of 19th.

Jaden Schaper and Rupert Kaminski made the cut after a pair of second-round 70s. They were on four-under in a share of 47th. Branden Grace will also play the final 36 holes after his second round of one-under 70 put him in a share of 64th on three-under.
