Kaiyuree Moodley started her quest for Ladies European Tour status in 2025 with a two-under-par 70 in the first round of the Lalla Aicha Q School-Final Stage on Monday in Marrakech, Morocco.
Moodley, an amateur, is one of two South Africans in the field. Danielle du Toit, who earned her card last year through the same process, is the other. She opened with a one-under-par 72.
The first four rounds of the 90-hole marathon are being played alternately on the par-72 Royal Golf Marrakech on the par-73 Al Maaden Golf Marrakech. After that, there is a cut, with the top 65 and ties progressing to the final day. The final round will be played on Al Maaden Golf.
The top 20 and ties will earn category 12 status on the tour. Those finishing 21st to 50th will have fewer starts through category 16, and the balance will have limited status through category 19.
At two-under, Moodley was in a share of 24th, five strokes off the lead which was held by Ecuador’s Daniela Darquea at seven-under 65 on Royal Golf Marrakech. Spain’s Blanca Fernandez and Italy’s Anna Zanusso sit in a share of second on -6 just one shot behind the leader.
Moodley had three birdies on the front nine without dropping a shot, but she had bogeys on the 10th and 16th, before recovering with a birdie on the 17th.
Du Toit was in a share of 42nd, and she made three birdies and two bogeys.
