He locked up his Masters invitation with his fourth-place finish in the Open Championship last July, but Thriston Lawrence made doubly sure by ending 2024 in 45th place on the Official World Golf Ranking list.
With the top 50 being assured of a place at Augusta National from April 10 next year, Lawrence ticked that box by holding down 45th place. And with his place on the PGA Tour settled after his superb season on the DP World Tour, he should have settled nicely on the lucrative circuit in the United States by then.
Lawrence received the green envelope on Christmas Eve, and he took to social media to express his gratitude:
“Christmas came early, in the form of a little green envelope ✉️🎄⛳️ Last year this time I thought about how great it would be to get one of these. I knew it was coming, one day! A knock on the door, and this in my hand, I know now that anything is possible. When you miss out on something it can seem so final – like it will never happen. Here I am, a year later, with my name on a Masters Invite. I hope you NEVER stop dreaming and working towards whatever your ‘green envelope’ is! Grateful to God, family, friends, fans and sponsors for backing me – Augusta here we come!”
