In his second competitive round with his new PXG clubs, Christiaan Bezuidenhout carded a three-under-par 70 on Friday in the second round of the opening PGA Tour event of 2025, The Sentry at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii.
Bezuidenhout, who has moved from his long-time Callaway equipment, made four birdies and a bogey as he improved on his first round of level-par 73, but that left him a gaping 13 strokes off the lead at the halfway mark of the 59-man no-cut Signature Event on the PGA Tour.
Up ahead, the 2021 Masters champion, Hideki Matsuyama of Japan carded his second-successive eight-under-par 65 to move to 16-under and a one-stroke lead over American Collin Morikawa, who also had a 65 in the second round. Corey Conners of Canada, Americans Maverick McNealy and Tom Hoge and Thomas Detry of Belgium shared third on 14-under.
Despite the improvement for Bezuidenhout, he still slipped eight places down the leaderboard into a share of 49th, so he will be hoping for further improvements during the weekend to get a decent start to the new season.
