Christo Lamprecht jumped inside South Africa’s top 10 players according to the Official World Golf Ranking following a career-best points haul from his share of second on the Korn Ferry Tour over the weekend.

Lamprecht climbed 105 places on the official list to 247th place after finishing runner-up in the Astara Golf Championship in Bogota, Colombia. That makes him the 10th-best South African. He was the 18th-best last week, and he has leapfrogged the likes of Dylan Frittelli, Brandon Stone and Jayden Schaper into 10th place.

Lamprecht’s climb up the official rankings has been a long time coming, and there is a sense that he is starting to hit his straps as a professional. A maiden professional victory seems only a matter of time.

Schaper, who was overtaken by Lamprecht on the South African list, had a great finish himself over the weekend, and his share of fifth on the DP World Tour in the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters gave him a 33-place boost on the official rankings to 258th.

There was a change at the top of the South African list as Christiaan Bezuidenhout finished in a share of fourth in the PGA Tour’s WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Arizona. That meant he climbed 10 places on the world rankings to 51st, and he has supplanted Thriston Lawrence as the top-ranked South African. Lawrence missed the cut in Scottsdale.

Daniel van Tonder’s meteoric rise up the ranking slowed down considerably this week as his share of sixth in the Cell C Cape Town Open saw him climb just one place to 176th.

Outside the top 25, Keenan Davidse went up 126 places, from 580 to 454, and Jovan Rebula up 72 spots, from 663 to 591.
