A battling final round of level-par 72 in Sunday saw Keith Horne finish in a share of eighth in the first tournament of the new Legends Tour season, the Staysure Marbella Legends at Aloha Golf Club in Marbella, Spain.

Horne, who was three strokes off the lead after the second round, made three bogeys through 11 holes, and only managed to pick up his first birdie on the 14th. He made two more on the next two holes, but dropped another on the 17th. He got things back to level-par with a closing birdie on the 18th.

He reached eight-under-par for the tournament, seven strokes off the winning total of 15-under-par. England’s Simon Griffiths closed with a four-under-par 68 to beat Scott Hend of Australia into second by two shots. Hend charged hard, but his eight-under 64 was just not enough.

The reigning MCB Road to Mauritius champion, Adilson Da Silva, also closed with a level-par 72 to finish in a share of 14th on six-under.

James Kingston had a quiet start to the season, with rounds of 73-72-72, and his one-over-par total put him in a share of 34th in the field of 60 players.
